Malala's Fight
Malala Yousafzai was shot three times by a gunman on the way home from school. She survived the attack after being unconscious for a few days. she became famous! she is still continuing her campaign and is a role model to many girls who live there. even after she got shot, most people would think that she would be too scared to continue with fighting, but no. she kept fighting for her right. and she is very brave for continuing.
The first thing that Malala Yousafzai did to fight against prejudice was to start a blog. She was 11 when she first began writing it. In the blog she described her life being hard because the Taliban didn’t want girls to have the same rights as boys. a lot of people read the blog and she was noticed. The Taliban noticed her and wanted her dead.
Malala was on a school bus when the Taliban stopped the bus and shot her in the head. Malala spent a lot of time in hospital where she almost died because she got an infection. also there was a miracle because the bullet should have killed her but when it went into her skin it bounced off her bone and went through her eardrum and into her shoulder. She got a lot of attention when she was shot and when she survived and was released and everybody noticed and it was on the news.
When Malala got better, she continued to fight prejudice even though she must have felt scared. She fought back by writing a book about her story and gave interviews. Malala knows that there are 31 million girls on the planet who do not have education because they are girls and she wants to change that.
“We realized the importance of pens and books when we saw the guns” Malala said this in her UN speech. What she might mean by this is that you never know how lucky you are until what you have is being taken away by force. also when you have a pen you can write and people can read it and you can share information, opinions, stories, ideas, and protests. The people that tried to kill Malala were scared of the power that girls with education and pens and computers can have. Now Malala tells the world this.
