Malala Yousafzai was born in Mingora, Pakistan on July. 12 1997. She was growing up in a popular tourist town until the Taliban began to take control. They would attack girls' schools. They attacked the school Malala attended and Malala lost the right to her education.
She started blogging under a fake name to say how hard it was to live under the Taliban and she was also standing up for her rights. She started this blog when she was eleven. Then in the year 2008 she gave a speech in Peshawar, Pakistan, titled, "how dare the Taliban take away my basic right to education?" She was nominated for the children's peace prize in 2011 because of this speech.
When she was 14 she found out she was being targeted by the Taliban because she was an advocate for girls' education. On October 9, 2012 Malala Yousafzai was shot three times by a gunman on the way home from school. She survived the attack after being unconscious for a few days. when she got better she flew to the United Kingdom and stayed there with her family.
She became very well known for standing up for her rights and her greatest achievement was getting the Noble peace prize in 2014 for fighting prejudice like this. She is the youngest person to every get the Noble peace prize.
